Between 27 and 35 years old in Namdroling Monastery

Namdroling Monastery, India.

On Feb 17th,1978, the university of the Higher Buddhist Studies and Research Centre of the second “mother monastery” of the old translation school-- Nyingmapalineage called ”Palyul”was started using in south India. Here is just like a treasury opened by H.H. Penor Rinpoche with his vast vows. This university relighted the torch of Buddha’s teachings, built a stable base ofBuddhism, and made both teachings and certifications brilliantly all over the world. The holder of the long lineage made by Ugyen Guru Rinpoche, calledthe old translation school--Nyingmapa lineageshinesobviously with great splendor. We should spend 9 years to learn the knowledge of the mahayana and vajrayanaand make a base. And then, we should learn more about the three divisions of Sutra, illusionand mindedness(inner vajrayana). The steps we learn just like building a golden palace at first, and finally erect the “treasure buildings”of the knowings of Dzogchen. Following such learning procedures, we can be successful without hard working. The university is just like a cradle breeding dharma masters with Buddhist Canon (Tripitaka) and fine comportment.

At 27, I went to the Namjoling Monastery and studied in the university H.H.Penor Rinpoche abbot. During the period, I did my best to serve H.H.Penor Rinpoche by painting Thangka and studied. In grade 5, I started to be a vice professor. From grade 1 to grade 9, I was always one of the top students. I gained a few wisdoms of the training,I owed them all to H. H. Penor Rinpoche and the three Khenchens. Their merit is what I could hardly repay.

I remembered that one year, a public praying initiation of Nyingmapa lineage was hosted by His Holiness Penor Rinpoche in Bodhgaya, I was in charge of making torma for this sacred activity and did my best to make it wonderful. Many Tibetan monks took photos at the torma. In the past, all the torma in Tibet was painted white. After the practice, many people started to ask where they can learn to make such wonderful torma.
Some people were sent to study it in Dzongsar Monastery in Bhutan. All Tibetan monasteries started to make torma rich and colorful. the way to make torma was spread out and became flourish.

When Studying inthe Namdroling Monastery, the photo was taken with Khenchen Pema Sherab.

At 29, in grade 3, I taught again in summer retreat and debated with Khenpo TashiTseling and Khenpo Tsewang. At 32, grade 6, I debated with Lopan Wancho in the dharma assembly for the anniversary of Mipham Gyamtso Rinpoche’s parinirvana.

The photo was taken when we were certified to be “Khenpos” in the Namdroling Monastery.

At 37, I was graduated from the university, and then was in charge of the job of “KHENPO” of the Tharpaling Monastery in Bhutan for 4 years. After that, I went back to the Namdroling Monastery and was in the service of painting grand hall’s mural paintings. I was certificated to be one of the 9 Khenpos of the Higher Buddist Studies and Reserch Centre in the 3rd batch,in 1999.

H.H. Penor Rinpoche advised, encouraged and praised us. He selected us to be Khenpos and admonished us that “you should hold, protect and spread Buddhism. Besides, never delay the mission of spreading and learning the dharma”.

The photo was taken with the other Namdroling Monastery’s Khenpos, when we had a practice.

The photo was taken with my good friend “Ngawang” in the grand hall of the Namdroling Monastery which has three floors’mural paintings. He painted the 3rd floor’s mural paintings which are the 12 masters of Dzogchen with his vows. I spent two years to finish painting the 1st and 2nd floors’mural paintings. With the vows devoting myself to the teachings, I adhered to the orders of H.H.Penor Rinpoche and regarded it as a meaningful work and a good opportunity which can purify my obstacles. So, I always did my best.
